Welcome to the LILAC; Leadership in Language Acquisition and Comprehension (el Liderazgo en la Adquisición y la Comprensión del Lenguaje LACL). LILAC-LACL is a Learning Support and Resource Centre (el Centro de Recursos y Apoyo al Aprendizaje) where the focus is on enhancing effective communication and comprehension in the target language. This will be done through a variety of activities which include, reading and analyzing text, interpreting the author's intent, identifying themes and articulating an understanding of texts. The centre is committed to promoting meaningful conversations through consistent language use, thereby, underpinning the importance of developing competence in oral skills and literary skills strands — listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Learning a language can be somewhat challenging for some students, and at times, these students need additional support. This website is designed to assist learners in the Intermediate and Senior Divisions (Grades 7 to 12) to improve literacy skills, communication skills, and critical thinking and creative skills in English and International Languages — Spanish. Resources and homework help are also available to pupils in JK — Grade 6. Here, students will find the Ontario Curriculum and other ministry-recommended resources and get the individual help, guidance and attention they need to improve comprehension skills and communicate effectively in both languages.
